years of service

At the Centre for Democracy and Peace, we believe in the power of democracy to heal divisions, build trust, and create a better tomorrow.

We are a registered charity, established to support individuals, communities, and institutions to resolve conflict, uphold human rights, and foster reconciliation. Founded on the lessons of Northern Ireland’s peace process, our work empowers leaders across civil society and political life to address grievances constructively and inspire confidence in democratic institutions.

We work to restore hope and nurture a shared sense of responsibility, opportunity, and humanity – respecting diversity while building unity.

Through research, dialogue, education, and leadership programmes – including the Fellowship Programme – we share and document experiences from Northern Ireland and other societies emerging from violent political conflict. We offer a knowledge exchange platform for government, civil society, and future leaders to learn together how democracy and peace can flourish, even in the most divided contexts.

Together, we are building bridges, advancing leadership, and creating a more peaceful, democratic future.
