Ciarán Ó Cuinn

Director

Ciarán Ó Cuinn is a specialist in international relations and conflict resolution. Ciarán is Head of Mission at MEDRC. MEDRC is the sole surviving institution of the Multilateral Middle East Peace Process, mandated to be a model organisation for states seeking to use transboundary environmental issues in the service of a peace process.

For a decade he worked on the Irish Peace Process as principal ministerial policy adviser at Ireland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, and Ministry of Energy, Climate, and Communications. During that time, Ciarán worked on projects as diverse as the development of a single All-Island energy market, formal negotiations between the main parties in Northern Ireland, and the development of conflict resolution initiatives to help capture the lessons learned from the Irish context for peace processes elsewhere.

Educated at Trinity College, Dublin and The School of Oriental & African Studies, London, he holds degrees in History and Public Policy & Management.

Fellowship Project Calls for Action on Abuse of Political Candidates in Northern Ireland

A group of leaders from the Centre for Democracy and Peace’s Fellowship Programme have designed a new initiative tackling the abuse and intimidation faced by political candidates in Northern Ireland. As part of the programme’s design thinking module, the team explored real-life challenges and developed solutions aimed at fostering a safer and more inclusive political environment.
